KYYA: FM 93.3 Billings came on the air April 5, 1969 as KOYN-FM with a country music format. See KOYN above. The call change to KYYA came about in 1975 along with a format change to rock music. Billboards promoted the change. Studios were in the same building as KOYN 910 at 4140 King Avenue East. In 1978 KYYA moved to new studios at 1645 Central Avenue. KYYA moved to 2075 Central Avenue along with KCMT, KRKX, and KBLG. KCMT changed to KRZN. Meyer Broadcasting sold to Fisher Radio who sold the stations to Cherry Creek Radio June of 2006. At that time stations KRKX FM 94.1 "Montana's Home of Rock 'N Roll" - KRZN FM 96.3 "The Zone" - and KYYA-FM 93.3 "Y93" were located there. In 2010 Cherry Creek Radio sold some of these stations to Connoisseur Media, others were sold to others. When that happened, Connoisseur Media held too many FM stations and a swap was made with KURL 730 to take the 93.3 FM position. KYYA became an AM station on 730 as seen in the photos from 2014. John is pictured at the KYYA control board. The last photo is of the tower for KYYA 730 and KJCR 1240 on Haugen Street.
